Candy was created by Harry Sahle. The character first appeared in "Police Comics", where she made regular appearances in issues #37-102 (December, 1944 - October, 1950).

She was popular enough to receive her own series, which lasted 64 issues (Autumn, 1947-July, 1956). There was also a version of the character appearing in newspaper comic strips from 1944 to 1950. She was one of Quality's longest-running characters.

Candace "Candy" O'Connor was a regular teenage girl. Her supporting cast included boyfriend Ted Dawson, rival Cornelia Clyde and best friends Tina and Thrish. Her hometown was Hartwick, United States.
